The Box Set is a five-CD box set. Its contents span the group's career from 1971 (as the pre-KISS band, Wicked Lester) through 1999. It also contains late-1960s demos from some pre-KISS bands involving KISS co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley.

The release will came in two versions, Standard and Deluxe. Both sets will include the same materials. The Deluxe Set is sold in a guitar case and the publication in the set is hardbound. The Standard Set comes in a standard box with a paperback version of the publication.
